The 2008 International Etiuda & Anima Festival has honored the internationally-acclaimed Iranian director, Mohsen Makhmalbaf, in Poland. The festival presented its Special Golden Dinosaur award to Makhmalbaf for the outstanding combination of creativity and educational elements in his works. The festival will also screen films by the Makhmalbaf family, including Hana Makhmalbaf's Buddha collapsed out of shame, Samira Makhmalbaf's Apple, Blackboard and Two-legged Horse and Mohsen Mahmalbaf's Gabbeh and Kandahar. Director, writer, editor and producer, Mohsen Makhmalbaf is currently the president of the Asian Film Academy. He is the founder of Tajikistan's first film festival. Makhmalbaf has received numerous international awards including the Medal of Honor from the French Minister of Culture and Arts and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the 2007 Molodist Int'l Film Festival. The 15th International Etiuda & Anima Festival kicked off on Nov. 14 and will run until Nov. 21, 2008 in Krakow, Poland. |
