UN Named Iran as the World's Handicrafts Center

The World Tourism Organization (UNWETO) secretary-general, Francesco Frangialli, has announced Iran as the world's handicrafts center.

Visiting Iran's pavilion at the 2008 Fitur International Tourism Trade Fair in Madrid, Frangialli complimented Iranian artists on the diversity and beauty of their artworks.

UNWETO's deputy secretary-general, Taleb Rifai also praised the artists and expressed hope for holding an international tourism fair in Iran.

Iranian handicrafts attracted a large number of visitors in Madrid including Spanish media and tourism officials from different countries.

The United Nation's World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the leading international organization in the field of tourism, serves as a global forum for tourism policy issues.
