UNESCO Presents Certificate to the Ancient Site of Bisotun

UNESCO is scheduled to present its World Heritage Certificate to the ancient site of Bisotun in Iran's western Kermanshah Province.

The certificate will be awarded during a ceremony to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Iran's membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO will award Iran for its efforts in safeguarding the ancient site.

According to the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), before December 2008 certificates will be granted to Soltanieh Dome, Takht-e-Suleiman, Choqa Zanbil, Persepolis and Pasargadae.

The next awarding ceremony will take place on July 7, 2008 for Bam and its Cultural Landscape World Heritage property.
