Third Round of Sanctions against Iran

Saturday, November 17, 2007

Senior Iranian parliamentarian Alaeddin Boroujerdi says the toughening of sanctions against Iran would further complicate the situation.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi warned that a third round of sanctions against Iran would only worsen the situation.

The Iranian Majlis deputy asserted that the language of war and menace could only harm the West. He added that sanctions would not affect the Iranian nation's determination to acquire peaceful nuclear technology.

Boroujerdi asserted that Iran's nuclear activities were within the framework of the IAEA rules and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. He restated that the IAEA chief's report affirms Iran's cooperation with the agency.

The Iranian MP called on the European Union to respect the IAEA reports on Iran's nuclear dossier. Boroujerdi pointed out that the Islamic Republic has already adopted many confidence-building measures in line with global regulations and the NPT.
