Saturday, October 20, 2007

Persian carpets have been praised by the Thai Minister of Commerce Kroekrai Chiraphaet as a symbol of Iran's unique craftsmanship.

"The carpets on display here illustrate Iran's unique sense of taste for art; Iranian carpet weavers have no rivals in the world," the Thai official said at the opening of the 1st Persian carpet exhibit in Bangkok.

He also pointed to the strong ties between the two Asian countries, saying that Iran is a strategic partner of Thailand.

The exquisite hand-woven carpets exhibit, which opened on Friday at Bangkok's Intercontinental Hotel, is named 'Carpets, Iranian Cultural Heritage'. It is currently showcasing over 100 different carpets and will run until October 21.
