P1& P2 Centrifuges Case

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

A positive report by the International Atomic Energy Agency Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei has closed the P1& P2 centrifuges case.

"The report demonstrated that sending Iran's peaceful nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council was an illegal act. It stated that Iran has had no diversion [towards non-peaceful purposes] in its nuclear activities," Government Spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said.

"Iran intends to achieve its rights," he said, insisting that Tehran has completely carried out its responsibilities.

He stated that Iran regards suspension of enrichment as an 'illegal' demand, to which it will not agree. However, Tehran is determined to continue technical and legal cooperation with the IAEA.

Elham said that talks between the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili are currently underway to determine the exact date and venue of their next meeting.

He stressed that there is no delay or problem relating to the issue.
