No Changes to Algiers Accord

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Kazemi-Qomi dismisses Iraq's claims that Tehran has agreed to make changes in the Algiers Accord.

Ambassador Hassan Kazemi-Qomi rejected Abbawi's claims, saying the Iraqi delegation's upcoming visit to Tehran is solely aimed at implementing the 1975 Algiers Accord and dredging Arvandroud River.

He affirmed that changes will under no circumstance be made to the 32-year-old agreement.

The 1975 agreement settled Tehran-Baghdad territorial disputes.
