New Round of UN Security Council Sanctions against Iran

Monday, December 3, 2007

Iran's President has dismissed the prospect of a new round of UN Security Council sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear standoff.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said a new round of sanctions would indicate the world body's efficiency has been lapsed.

The President said ignoring the UN nuclear watchdog's report on Iran means the United Nations Security Council has lost its legitimacy.

President Ahmadinejad emphasized that Iran will not be intimidated into giving up its nuclear rights.

He also urged Security Council member states to respect the IAEA's report on Iran.
