Beijing Oriental Royal International Cultural Exchange Center and the Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games (OCOGs) paid tribute to award-winning director Majid Majidi for his short film about the preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

In a ceremony held in Beijing, a plaque of honor and the golden medal of the Beijing National Stadium, known as the Bird’s Nest, were handed to Majidi.

In a project named Vision Beijing to promote the Olympic host city, the Chinese capital had invited Italian Giuseppe Tornatore, Majid Majidi from Iran, Patrice Leconte from France, Daryl Goodrich from Britain and Andrew Lau Wai Keung from Hong Kong to each make a short film depicting the story of the Chinese people’s preparation for the August 8-24 Games.

All five movies were screened at the ceremony, and according to most of the viewers, Majidi’s was the most attractive and influential of them all.

The short film entitled “Colors Fly”, in common with his previous works, centers round youth and focuses on the theme of children and young people looking forward to the games.
