Iranian Researchers Produce Artificial Veins

Active ImageResearchers at Iran’s Shahid Beheshti Medical University succeeded in creating artificial blood vessels by using nanotechnology.

Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, the head of Lung Disease & TB Research Institute of the university, said on the sidelines of the Iran Nano 2009 event in Tehran on November 6th.

“The blood vessels have been tested in a limited trial on human and animals which proved successful,” he said.

The official said the production of nano-prosthesis is in the laboratory phase and the tests performed on animals and humans have shown positive results.

“Nanotechnology has moved from experimental phase into industrial phase, which is a great achievement for the country,” he said.
