Iranian Physician Wins US Congress Medal of Honor

The United States Congress has awarded its Medal of Honor for 2008 to Dr. Massoud Khatami, executive director of University of New York’s Department of Fertility.

During a formal ceremony in Washington, the medal was awarded to Dr. Khatami and the Congressmen lauded his services.

Dr. Massoud Khatami is executive director of Fertility Research Foundation and a professor of medicine at the University of New York who has been studying infertility and methods to determine gender of children before birth during the past 30 years. He is a patriot Iranian who was active in fundraising for victims of a major earthquake in Bam city and sent contributions of Iranian expatriates in the United States to the city.

Dr. Khatami has been born in Shiraz and is a graduate of medicine from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. He migrated to the United States in 1970 and started to work in New York state hospital.
