Iranian Personalities on UNESCO List of Dignitaries

Names of five Iranian scientific and cultural personalities have been put on a list of dignitaries prepared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

UNESCO in its list of dignitaries of past centuries and millennia has mentioned the name of Seyed Jamaleddin Asadabadi on the occasion of his 150th birthday, registering him as a common dignitary of Iran and Afghanistan for 2008.

Also, Abuabdollah Roudaki has been mentioned as common poet introduced by Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Kazakhstan to be registered on the list for 2008.

Other major names include Abolmajd Sanaei Ghaznavi, registered as a common poet and philosopher belonging to Iran and Afghanistan as well as Imam Mohammad Ghazali, the Iranian philosopher, whose 950th birthday will be celebrated in 2008.

UNESCO has also designated 2009 as the year of Sheikh Baha’i on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the demise of the renowned Iranian mathematician, astronomer, physician, and architect.
