Iran slams UK's threadbare charges

Tuesday, October 23, 2007

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini has denounced the British Defense Secretary's unfounded charges against Iran.

Hosseini described such accusations as threadbare, adding they were solely used to justify the doomed illegitimate presence of the occupying forces in Iraq.

The Iranian spokesman said the British troops in the course of their four-year occupation have caused extensive damage to the security of the region and injury to Iraqi civilians.

Hosseini called on the international organizations, especially the United Nations, to take a stand against such unlawful measures and the killing of innocent civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq by British forces.
