Iran sanctions doomed to failure

Saturday, October 6, 2007

Bully countries seem to have finally realized that psych-wars and sanction threats against Iran are doomed to failure, Iran's FM says.

These states mistakenly supposed that the mere mention of sanctions against Iran would throw the country into a state of chaos, Manouchehr Mottaki said.

"Iran's achievements in the field of nuclear technology have persuaded those who had previously resisted the idea of allowing Iran to have 20 centrifuges for research purposes, to call on Iran to confine itself to 3,000 of the same,” Mottaki noted.

This goes some way to prove that the initiative on how the issue should be dealt with is now fully in Iran's hands, Mottaki noted, stressing that acquiring peaceful nuclear technology is the Iranian people's inalienable right and Iran is determined to pursue its peaceful nuclear program in compliance with the international law.

"Iran has never intended to make nuclear weapons; nor does it need a nuclear bomb," the minister added.
