The chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has dismissed Washington plans to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guards a terrorist group.

Major General Hassan Firuzabadi said on Saturday that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) are defenders of the nation and Washington has “no right” to call the protector of Iran's national interests a terrorist organization.

“If the US goes ahead with this illogical and hasty plan, every member of the Iranian nation will put the symbol of the IRGC on their chests”.

With the US secretary of defense talking about the futility of the Iraq war, some “crazy and unwise people in the Washington want to ruin the auspicious name of the IRGC by labeling it terrorist group without any reason, and thus start a new psychological warfare operation against Iran,” Firuzabadi added.
