Iran's Uranium Enrichment Right

Saturday, December 1, 2007

Iran's Chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili says it is unacceptable that Iran should be deprived of its uranium enrichment right.

"Iran is a member of the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) which means it has the right to enrich uranium," he said.

Thus, it is unacceptable for the Iranian nation to abandon its right to enrichment, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council continued.

He added that while the Islamic Republic is committed to carrying out its obligations under the treaty, it will 'defend' its rights.

Iranian chief nuclear negotiator underlined Tehran's willingness for further negotiations with the international community over its nuclear program.
