Thursday, November 1, 2007

Iran condemns recent terrorist measures by the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Turkey, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has said.

The Iranian minister expressed sympathy for the Turkish government and nation, and the bereaved families of the victims of the recent PKK acts. He said that increasing terrorist activities in the north of Iraq are backed by foreigners, expressing hope that Washington would end its policies of support for terrorism.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the significance of taking serious and international measures to put an end to terrorist acts under whatever name and fight against terrorism.

We think that bilateral consultations and regional cooperation should stop terrorist operations in the region." Mottaki said.
