Iran: US can not take a 3rd front

Monday, October 29, 2007

Senior advisor to the Leader for Military Affairs says US political and economic capacity would never allow Washington to attack Iran.

"The US political and economic capacity does not allow the US to create a third front and provoke World War III by attacking Iran," said Major General Yahya Rahim-Safavi.

Safavi, who is a military advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, says the White House has three problems in attacking the country. "First, they have no idea how Iran will react. They still do not know how crushing our response will be," he warned.

"There was a time when they were on a different continent. Now they are within the reach of our guns; this is crystal clear to their political and military experts," former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps added.

While noting that the US consumes 25 percent of the world's oil, Safavi said the second problem the Americans face is the energy issue.

"Now the war has not even begun. Crude oil prices have reached just under $100 a barrel," he said.

He said the third problem is the concern the US has about the Zionist regime.

Safavi described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a powerful country, insisting that we must be militarily prepared to defend ourselves.
