Iran Establishes Biggest Mineral Analysis Center in Middle East

Applied Geological Research Center of Iran Geological Survey Organization has established the biggest center for analysis of mineral and geological samples in the Middle East.

Nasser Saadeddin, head of the research center has noted that the new analysis center is equipped with the most modern qualitative and quantitative elemental analysis equipment and in addition to being the biggest such center for analysis of mineral and geological samples in the Middle East has obviated the need to send mineral samples to other countries for analysis.

He suggested that the center’s capacity for analyzing samples will increase by more than fourfold, adding, “By increasing analysis capacity from 30,000 samples in a year to 120,000 samples, we would witness a growing trend in preparing and producing geological maps in the country.”

Saadeddin also noted that medical and marine geology laboratories of Applied Geological Research Center in Karaj have been equipped.

“In the field of medical geology, we are capable of full analysis of water, plants, and soil using the most advanced laboratory equipment. In addition, we can conduct all kinds of sedimentologic tests in the field of marine geology,” he said.
