Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari confirmed that Iran supports the United Nations efforts to end the Yemeni political crisis.

"Iran supports the efforts of the international organization in the settlement of the Yemeni crisis and we have held constructive talks with the UN official to activate existing mechanisms to resolve the crisis through political solutions," he told the reporters after meeting with UN special envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in Tehran.

He added that Cheikh Ahmad's visit came within the framework of bringing aid to reach a political solution to resolve the Yemeni crisis.

Since the outbreak of the crisis, the Islamic Republic of Iran has emphasized the solution to the crisis, like other similar crises in the region, is not a military solution and should solve through political and direct dialogue between the conflicting parties and considering the views of the Yemeni people,” Jaberi Ansari noted.

Stressing the importance of reaching a ceasefire and putting an end to the conflicts and the siege of the region, he said that unfortunately the imposition of the blockade on Yemen brought many problems to its people and led to the spread of various diseases such as Cholera.
