Iran’s National Day of Cinema Celebration

Iranian officials held a ceremony in Tehran's Sa'dabad Historical-Cultural Complex on Thursday night (September 10, 2015) to mark National Cinema Day which is observed on September 12. The event was attended by Culture Minister Ali Jannati and veteran cineastes, including director Reza Mirkarimi, actors Fatemeh Motamed Aria and director Shahram Mokri. Addressing the gathering, Jannati said "I am happy to attend the National Cinema Day gala for the third time." He added that the incumbent government intends to support the cinema industry and the production of films, adding that sometimes films cannot be screened due to a number of problems. Head of Iran's Cinema Organization Hojatollah Ayoubi also revealed that a special program will be held to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the organization's Arts and Experimental Cinema Section. A number of movie theaters in Tehran, Mashhad, Qazvin, Isfahan, Shiraz and Ahvaz are slated to host programs to celebrate National Cinema Day.
