Iran’s Nuclear Policy is Unalterable

Monday, December 10, 2007

Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said that top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili is committed to the former agreements reached between Iranian and EU diplomats on Tehran’s nuclear drive.

Iran’s nuclear policy is unalterable and Jalili is pursuing the agreements already reached between former Supreme National Security Council secretary Ali Larijani and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Hosseini said.

“The Islamic Republic’s policy in issues such as the nuclear one has been a principled and this was reiterated in Mr. Jalili’s meeting with Solana.”

The spokesman rejected rumors that Jalili had described previous negotiations between Larijani and Solana as invalid.

“This is basically incorrect. And on the contrary, it was the other side that announced his opposition very clearly to the ideas presented in the previous meetings,” Hosseini stated.

He stated that Iran is prepared to continue talks to resolve the remaining differences in regard to its nuclear program.
