Fajr International Music Festival 2014



The 29th edition of Iran's most prestigious music show and competition, Fajr International Music Festival, has started its programs in the capital city of Tehran.



Over 60 international Medias representatives in different broadcasting versions are covering the reports of the festival that was kicked off on February 13.



Associated Press (The United States), Anatolia (Turkey), Xinhua (China) and Ansa (Italy) are some of the foreign Medias who flocked to Iran’s 2014 Fajr music festival.



Tehran’s Vahdat Hall, Eyvan-e Shams hall, Azadi and Milad towers, Arasabaran and Niavaran cultural centers are among the stages that hosted the Iranian and foreign ensembles who gave performances in different categories.



Eyvan-e Shams Hall presented the Dutch quartet led by pianist Wolfert Brederode, while Iran’s pop vocalists Reza Sadeqi and Behnam Safavi gave performances in Milad Tower.



Vahdat Hall also hosted Maziar Younesi and his orchestra, as well as a piano and violin duet by Saman Ehteshami and Babak Shahraki.



Screening a film titled Sounds and Silence directed by Swiss filmmakers Peter Guyer and Norbert Wiedmer was also among the first day’s program.



The festival is also to host the Russian pianist Alexey Sergunin’s recitals at the Eyvan e Shams Hall on February 16 and 17.



He will also perform pieces composed by Iranian musicians Ali Reza Mashayekhi and Hamid Reza Ardalan.



The festival’s programs will also include the performance of a Tunisian ensemble led by oud maestro Anouar Brahem.



Iranian other provinces including Kermanshah, Sistan and Baluchestan, Kohkiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Golestan, Fars, Hormozgan are also hosting the festival.



The festival annually hosts many domestic and foreign artists performing different pieces in various categories such as International and Folk Music, Classical Music and Youth and Women Music.



The 29th Fajr International Music Festival is scheduled to run until February 20, 2014.
