Expansion of Relations with Russia

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki says the Islamic Republic is considered as Russia's most important strategic partner in the region.

Mottaki said the all-out expansion of relations with Russia is high on Tehran's foreign policy agenda.

He added that the Islamic Republic is not opposed to friendly relations with the West, as the country has adopted a balanced foreign policy.

Mottaki said that Tehran and Moscow had agreed to expand cooperation in the fields of transportation and tourism as well as the industrial, banking, commercial and energy sectors.
