Envoy: No need for Iran to buy time

Saturday, October 6, 2007

Permanent envoy to the IAEA Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh says Iran has mastered the uranium enrichment technology and has no need to buy time.

"I reject this evaluation (that Iran's accord with the IAEA is aimed at buying time). This is not a fair judgment. As you know, Mr. ElBaradei has acknowledged Iran has mastered uranium enrichment so we do not need to buy time," .
Soltaniyeh said it is a fact the world community should acknowledge, and those countries creating political tensions should come to terms with it.

The accord reached (between Iran and IAEA) now would help resolve these questions. In other words, there would be no (unresolved) issues about Iran's previous (activities) and consequently there would be no justification for asking Iran to cease its legitimate (nuclear) program which is in compliance with the NPT," Soltaniyeh explained .
