Brain Tumor Surgery without Skull Opening

For the first time in Yazd province, brain tumor surgery without opening the skull was successfully carried out at Shahid Sadouqi Hospital of Yazd.

A neurosurgeon at Yazd University of Medical Sciences noted that in this operation, hypophyseal adenoma has been removed from the brain of a patient through endoscopy via sinuses.

Dr. Touraj Yazdi added that in the operation, the tumor was removed without having to open the skull; it was taken out through the patient’s nostrils.

The doctor added that there is no need for sutures in the operation and the method also prevented bleeding, reduced post-operative pain and did not disfigure patient’s face.
