Afsari-Rad's Significant Contribution to the World of Music

The Oslo municipality has granted the title of “Artist of the Year” to Javid Afsari-Rad, an Iranian musician for his efforts in the world of art.

Fabian Stang, the mayor of the Norwegian capital of Oslo, paid tribute to Afsari-Rad's significant contribution to the world of music.

The Oslo mayor entitled Afsari-Rad Artist of the Year and said, “Javid Afsari-Rad is known for his innovative performances and ingenious composition.”

“He is a pioneer in world music in Norway and his various performances are highly regarded in multicultural areas,” the mayor added.

Born in Isfahan, central Iran, Afsari-Rad began studying Santour, a traditional Iranian string instrument, with Parviz Meshkatian and master musician Faramarz Payvar.

His studies led him to Norway, where he later graduated from the University of Oslo in of Musicology.

The Iranian artist also received the title of Artist of the Year from Norway Radio and Television last year.
