About Elly Wins Another Award

Active ImageThe hit Iranian drama About Elly has received another award from the 14th edition of the Kerala International Film Festival in India.

Asghar Farhadi's 2008 production shared the festival's Best Film award with Indonesia's Fishing Platform by Ravi Bharwani.

The Best Director award went to Tajikistan's Nosir Saidov for True Noon, which also grabbed the event's Audience Award.

The 2009 Kerala festival's jury panel was led by Iran's Bahman Qobadi, joined by Balufu Bakupa Kanyinda (DR Congo), Prassanna Vithnarage (Sri Lanka), Mamta Shankar (India) and Hala Khalili (Egypt).

About Elly, which has been extensively screened in international cinemas, won awards at the third annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA), the 8th Tribeca Film Festival and the 59th Berlinale.

Organized by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, the annual Kerala International Film Festival screens feature-length, short films and documentaries from Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The 14th edition of the festival was held from Dec. 11 to 18, 2009.
