About Elly Receives Award in Brisbane Film Festival

Active ImageIran's About Elly has received the NETPAC Jury Award of the 2009 edition of Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) in Australia.

Directed by Asghar Farhadi, the two-hour drama won the award along with Agrarian Utopia by Uruphong Raksasad.

About Elly, which highlights the relations between Iranian men and women and presents a dramatic depiction of love, won the Silver Bear award of the 59th International Berlin Film Festival and the Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature of the 8th Tribeca Film Festival in the US.

Farhadi's production is also set to participate in the 2009 Santiago, Helsinki and Fukuoka international film festivals.

About Elly will be distributed by Memento Films Company in France from September 9, 2009.

Asghar Farhadi began filmmaking with Dancing in the Dust in 2003. His fourth film, Fireworks Wednesday won him the Gold Hugo Award of the 2006 Chicago International Film Festival and the Best Director Award of the 13th Rabat Film Festival in Morocco.
