2 Iranian films invited to Melbourne Film Festival

Two Iranian films are invited to 2020 Melbourne International Film Festival, which has moved online due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Ancient artefacts belonging to Iran have been handed over to the Iranian representative in Austria via legal formalities. The antique objects had been illegally taken out of Iran by profiteers and smuggled into Austria. The Center for Science and Technology Studies Leiden Ranking has placed 36 Iranian universities in the list of over 1,000 major universities worldwide in 2020 compared with 26 universities in 2019. Two Iranian animation films “Crab” directed by Shiva Sadegh Asadi and “Am I a Wolf?” directed by Amir Houshang Moein will vie at the competition section of the 2020 Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan. Iranian director Mohammadreza Aslani’s drama “The Chess Game of the Wind” will be screened in the Cannes Classics. Iran national football team remained 33rd in world and second in Asia in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday.  Japan as the best Asian team sit 28th in the world.

UK's Ramsgate Filmfest. to host 3 Iranian titles

Three Iranian short films, namely ‘Braceball’, ‘Don’t Worry’ and ‘The Pains of the Sea’ will take part in the 4th Ramsgate International Film and TV Festival in the UK. Sheffield International Documentary Festival (SIDF), the U.K.’s leading documentary festival, has unveiled a line-up for its 2020 edition featuring 115 films from 50 countries, including 3 Iranian films. Iranian film “Just 6.5” directed by Saeed Roustaee will be screened at the 21st edition of Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea. The Kraków Film Festival praised Iranian documentary “Sunless Shadows” with the award of the student jury and the Silver Horn for the director of the film on social issues. Five Iranian short films will be screened at the 26th edition of Palm Springs International Short Festival in the US. Iranian film ‘Among the Hills’ directed by Mohammad Reza Keivanfar has been awarded at the fourth edition of MENA Short Film Festival in The Hague, the Netherlands. Iranian animation “This Side, Other Side” directed by Lida Fazli will vie at the fourth edition of Hong Kong Kids International Film Festival (KIFF). The 16th edition of the Resistance International Film Festival announced that it will allocate a special section to films on health workers this year.
